The 71st edition of the Summer Courses of the University of Cadiz is hosting a seminar dedicated to the blue economy entitled “INNOVAZUL: innovation and growth in the field of the Blue Economy” organised in collaboration with CEI-MAR and which will take place on 19, 20 and 21 July.
The objectives of the seminar are to contribute to increasing and strengthening the interconnection between the agents of the innovation system in the field of the Blue Economy, to promote the circulation of knowledge and innovation as an engine of social change and modernisation of Cadiz, Andalusia and Spain and to involve Cadiz society, especially young people, so that they are able to take advantage of the opportunities generated by the Blue Economy.
The seminar is coordinated by María Jesús Mosquera, vice-rector of Science and Technology Policy and Fernando Luis Merello, technician of the Office for the Transfer of Research Results (OTRI) of the University of Cadiz. It has a duration of 25 hours of which 15 will be face-to-face and 10 via the Virtual Campus.
The Blue Economy sees the seas and oceans as engines of growth and innovation for sustainable and profitable economic development and has become a great opportunity for Andalusia, a region that possesses unique assets and knows how to take advantage of their potential.
Proof of this was the 1st International Meeting on Blue Knowledge and Growth (InnovAzul 2018), organised by the University of Cadiz and an international reference on innovation and growth in the field of the Blue Economy.
In fact, the UCA intends to organise InnovAzul again in 2022 and this seminar can serve as a preparation for this big event, involve relevant actors of the Blue Economy in Southern Europe and contribute to define the challenges and opportunities of its traditional and emerging sectors.
Companies and institutions such as Navantia, Iberdrola, the Spanish Navy, Puertos del Estado, the General Secretariat for Fisheries and the United Nations, as well as numerous SMEs and business associations, are taking part in the seminar.
CEI-MAR has a quota of grants for physical attendance for students and companies. Those persons or entities interested in attending and who wish to apply for the CEI-MAR scholarships should send an email to proyectos@fundacionceimar.com.
In addition, the entire seminar will be streamed live, so you will be able to attend the entire course or specific lectures remotely, via the internet.
This seminar takes place in the framework of the actions of the singular project of knowledge transfer actions “ITEAzul – Innovation and Knowledge Transfer for the Blue Economy”, funded by the Junta de Andalucía under the ERDF Operational Programme 2014-2020 of Andalusia within the measure A1122062E0, which aims to consolidate Andalusia as an international benchmark within the Blue Economy.
